«Am Abgrund» erzählt die Geschichte eines Paares, das unfreiwillig in einem Auto auf einer Klippe balanciert. Das Fahrzeug befindet sich in einem prekären Gleichgewicht, die kleinste Bewegung kann den Sturz die Tiefe bedeuten. Der Fahrer hat sich vom Smartphone ablenken lassen und ist von der Strasse abgekommen. Erst als er das Handy aus dem Fenster wirft, kippt das Auto zurück in eine stabile Position. Das Paar ist gerettet. Der Film spielt mit der Grundidee, dass ein Smartphone nicht zuviel Gewicht erhalten soll, insbesondere nicht am Steuer eines Autos. Die Idee ist kreativ, die Umsetzung sowie die Schauspielerische Leistung sind auf sehr hohem Niveau, heisst es in der Mitteilung dazu.
«Am Abgrund» überzeugte nicht nur die Fachjury, sondern auch das Onlinepublikum. Von maximal 45 möglichen Punkten erzielte der Film 41. Aus den zahlreichen Einreichungen wählte die Fachjury unter Leitung von Schauspieler und Prix Walo-Preisträger Leonardo Nigro die fünf Favoriten aus. Neben Leonardo Nigro setzt sich die Jury aus Sängerin und Songwriterin Anna Känzig, Moderator Andreas Pauli und Fords Social-Media-Expertin Patricia Dürst zusammen.
